Enhancing Surgical Outcomes & Cancer Healing with Mind/Body Techniques and Reiki To Register, Please Call: 617-887-2248 Fee: $20 Presenter: Ulrike Dettling, M.A., L.M.F.T., Reiki Master Teacher Medical Research has proven that people who learn mind/body techniques to help them prepare for surgery have less post-operative pain, fewer complications and recover faster. Ms. Dettling will talk about her program helping people enhance their healing process before and after surgery with Mind/Body Techniques developed by Peggy Huddleston (Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster, Angel River Press, 1996) and with an ancient hands-on healing art called Reiki. This powerful combination of healing techniques helps people relax, lessens the need for pain medication as well as side effects of radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Ms. Dettling will present some of the research documenting the mind/body connection. She will also talk about non-surgical applications of her mind/body program, especially for people on a healing journey with cancer, anxiety and depression. The workshop will include lecture, a video presentation, guided visualization and Q&A. BIO: Ulrike Dettling, M.A. is a licensed marriage and family therapist and Reiki Master Teacher. She is an AAMFT-Approved Clinical Supervisor and senior faculty at the Counseling Psychology Department at Cambridge College. She has worked for many years with people affected by life-challenging illnesses as a counselor and energy healer. Her specialty is supporting people living with cancer. She is fully trained and certified to teach the Prepare for Surgery, Heal Faster Workshop™. She accompanies clients into the hospital pre-op area or even into the OR to provide them with healing touch and relaxation. She helps clients to get in touch with their inner wisdom and innate self-healing power. |
